My Learning strategies

First, I seek the materials related to the topic. Secondly, I read material that relates to the twelfth material, namely Advertising: Creating an Advertisement and I try to understand the material by reading carefully and seriously. While studying and reading the material, I listened to my favorite music on YouTube. The reason was because it made me more enthusiastic about learning and not to be sleepy while studying. Therefore, listening to music makes me more excited. Then after I finish reading the material I usually have to repeat it to remember and make sure I understand the material and I will also note the important points of the material. Finally, I finished understanding the material and do assigned tasks.

 

Synopsis

 Smith Dianne & MJE. 2010. Introduction to Journalism, state that Advertising plays a vitally important role in publications, because that is what pays the bills. It also helps to educate the public about products, goods and services, and advertising helps to stimulate the economy. In scholastic publications, advertising is often sold by students to defray the cost of producing the newspaper, literary magazine or yearbook. Because publications often receive funding from schools (salaries for the instructors and equipment and supplies are often provided by the school district), and because scholastic newspapers are usually not in business to make a profit, the ration of ads to editorial matter is much lower. Advertising cannot create a need for a product or service, because as humans we have only the basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. There are two principal types of ads in a print publication, classified and display. Classified ads are all placed into one section of the newspaper under a variety of classifications, such as “help wanted,” “cars for sale,” “homes for rent.” They are usually priced by the word or the line of type and are small. A display ad is larger, priced by the block or column inch, and can appear anywhere in the publication.

 

Reflection  

Having read the material entitled "Advertising: Creating an Advertisement ". I now realize that advertisement is a text that aims to announce something to be of interest to many people and so that a product is known to all the general public. Most importantly, I have learned that advertisements can create desire for certain products and services through appeals, many of which are propaganda appeals, which they use to entice you for your money. I have significantly developed my skills in advertising subject. However, I have not improved my ability to make a good advertising. This means that I have to continue to practice and learn a lot about how to make and write good advertising. This skill will be essential to me as a learner because it is very useful for me to practice my writing skills. Because I did not too proficient with make an advertising and how to make correct and interesting advertising I will now need to hone my writing skills. As a next step, I need to learn more about good writing techniques in making an advertising from various sources.
